Half a million ID. cars have been delivered – Volkswagen reaches the milestone a year earlier than planned
Since the first copies of the ID.3 were handed over to customers in October 2020, Volkswagen has delivered 500,000 copies of models within the electric ID. family worldwide.
- Volkswagen is making rapid progress worldwide by electrifying its vehicle fleet despite a strained supply situation
- The order backlog remains large: 135,000 (+65 percent compared to 2021) ordered cars are being manufactured as fast as possible
The electric car investment is a success story for Volkswagen
Volkswagen is well on its way with the electrification of its vehicle fleet. A year ahead of schedule, the brand has reached another milestone in the implementation of its ACCELERATE strategy to become a zero-emissions, software-driven mobility provider.
– Half a million delivered ID. cars confirm that the electric models are well received by our customers all over the world. We are on the right track with our investment in electric mobility and our success story continues. Our focus remains unchanged – we want to make Volkswagen the most sought-after brand for sustainable free movement, says Imelda Labbé, board member at Volkswagen with responsibility for sales, marketing and service market.
Volkswagen’s order backlog remains large.
– We are doing our utmost to deliver the approximately 135,000 ID. cars that our customers have ordered as quickly as possible. However, due to the persistently pressured situation in terms of component supply, we have to constantly adjust production, Labbé continues.
Volkswagen will only manufacture electric cars in Europe in 2033. As early as 2030, fully electric cars will account for at least 70 percent of Volkswagen’s total sales in Europe. In the US and China, the company aims to have a share of electric cars of over 50 percent during the same period.
